Ainsdale Methodist Church is situated in the thriving village of Ainsdale. Over the last generation the village
of Ainsdale has grown immensely and the Church at Ainsdale has welcomed many new faces and people who have moved
to the village, either to retire or to commute to their work in Manchester, Liverpool or Southport. As a Church we
try very hard to cater for both our members and the community. We like to think our flagship project is the
Community Care Scheme, developed in the 1980's which now has a thriving membership of over 300, a staff base of four
and nearly 100 volunteers. Although the Care Scheme works in a variety of ways the focus is now the Luncheon Club and
over 600 meals a week are served over 4 days in the Church Hall, with meals also being taken out to housebound members
and friends. The aim of the Care Scheme is to provide support, care and friendship for as many people as possible.
Through the week there is a mixed programme of activities run by the Church which includes uniformed organisations
for young people, ie Guides, Brownies, Rainbows and Boys Brigade, Natterjack and Jill Club for younger children,
regular Bible Studies, as well as interest groups such as Emmaus, and for women the Eight O'Clock Group and Ladies
Circle. The Church runs a Welcome Centre every morning for members and friends to drop in and share in coffee and
light refreshments. The Church also has a Vocal Group, and is the home of Octave, the ecumenical singing group of
Churches Together in Ainsdale. There is also a Badminton Club on Monday night and a regular monthly Prayer Meeting
on the first Wednesday of the month.
As you can see from the above we run a wide and varied programme and believe we are a welcoming, encouraging Church with
always room for more members and friends.
